City League

Overview: Practices are formatted using small area station-based drills where each child will rotate through each drill working on a variety of skills. Games are played using a cross ice and/or half ice format. The format used for both practices and games allows for more puck touches, less waiting, and higher repetition of each drill, allowing for the best environment for kids to develop.

In November, the players will be evaluated and placed on teams with evenly distributed to talent to ensure parity and fair competition during the games.

The schedule for the City League program is as follows:

Practice - Saturday mornings @ 9:20am - 10:20am

Practice/Game - Sunday mornings @ 10:30am - 11:30am (Games will begin after the teams are formed in November)

Practice/Skills - Thursday evenings @ 5:00pm

Prerequisite:  All participants must have completed a Learn to Skate program before they are eligible for City League.  Skaters will also be subject to an evaluation in the first few weeks to ensure they have the minimum skill set to participate in the program. First time participants in Woburn Youth Hockey programs must also submit a copy of their birth certificate prior to participation.

Fees: The tuition must be paid in full before the skater's first practice. The tuition for the upcoming season is $700.

USA Hockey: All participants are required to register with USA Hockey, prior to participating in our program. There is no fee for children under six years old. The USA Hockey cost is not associated with WYH, but covers player insurance while on the ice. To register with USA Hockey please go online to www.usahockeyregistration.com .

NOTE: All players are required to dress in full hockey equipment including an approved hockey helmet with a full cage when they are on the ice.
